How to obtain filming permit and journalist visa in Indonesia

Regulation to Shoot Filming & Filming Visa Procedures in Indonesia

Requirements for Journalist Purposes and Film/Video Shooting Permit

For Media Coverage or other Journalistic purposes requires :

  1. Apply journalistic visit permit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in your country c.q.
    Information Section. It is strongly advised to send application at least 30 days before departure to Indonesia. (Form attached)
  2. Recommendation from the TV Station/Film producer.
  3. Visa Application form (double form/Person)
  4. Presents copy of the Passport, and Complete the Form.
  5. Must attach the Synopsis, Schedule, Location, List and Number of Film Equipment.
  6. In case, there is an additional team member or/and equipment, it has to be proceed as new application.
  7. A recommendation letter of an official government agency can accelerate the licensing procedure.
  8.  Journalistic Researches at the Natural Reserve needs special permit (SIMAKSI) from the Directorate General for Natural Protection and Conservation, Ministry of Forestry.
  9.  Sign the Statement.
  10. When the permission has been granted, start the visa application
  11. All requests please in double form filled out submit.

For Film Shooting purposes requires :

  1. 1. Apply shooting permit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in your country am Main c.q.
    Information Section. It is strongly advised to send application at least 30 days before departure to Indonesia. (Form attached)
  2. Recommendation from the NZ TV Station to the Film producer.
  3.  Visa Application form (double form/Person)
  4.  Presents copy of the Passport, List of Team Members, Curriculum Vitae.
  5. Must attach the Synopsis, Schedule, Location, List and Number of Film Equipment.
  6. In case, there is an additional team member or/and equipment, it has to be proceed as new application.
  7.  A recommendation letter of an official NZ government agency can accelerate the licensing procedure.
  8.  Shooting Film at the Natural Reserve needs special permit (SIMAKSI) from the Directorate General for Natural Protection and Conservation, Ministry of Forestry.
  9.  Sign the Statement.
  10. When the permission has been granted, start the visa application.

Obligations after receiving permit for journalist purposes:

  1. The applicant must report to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DIRPENLUGRI) and after the day of arrival in Jakarta and before the
    departure from Indonesia.
  2. The applicant will submit one copy of his proposed article/report to the Indonesian government.
  3.  The applicant will obey all regulations of the Indonesian government.
  4. The applicant will submit full-length report to the Indonesian government after his/her work has been completed.

 Obligations after receiving permit for film/video shooting permit:

  1. Comply with laws and regulations of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia.
  2. Report our arrival to the Directorate of Press and Information Service at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta, Jl. Tamban Pejambon
    No. 6, Jakarta-Pusat, in order to obtain press card(s) and general briefing regarding shooting procedures.
  3. Report to the Information Service of the Provincial/Regional Government that will appoint a liaison officer, and bear expenses
    related to the services.
  4. Carry out the film shooting in accordance with the approved scripts/synopsis as submitted to the Government of the Republic of
    Indonesia.
  5.  Refrain from film in sacred rituals, objects or locations forbidden by local beliefs or practices and other restricted areas.
  6. Bear all expenses related to entering specific locations and shooting of objects if required.
  7. Re-export all the shooting equipments at our expense upon completion of filming and bear all related costs.
  8. Submit one released copy of film/video to Government of the Republic of Indonesia through the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia which
    may be used at the discretion of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia for non-commercial use.
